Consolation Sisters in Indonesia

The Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation built a new house in Larantuka, Flores with 6 rooms, a dormitory room for aspirants, an oratory and other basic facilities. It serves as a community and a formation house.

In that house at present, there are four Indonesian young ladies who are undergoing the formal aspirancy program before going to the Philippines for the other stage of formation with the Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation. (In the photo below, the Sisters’ house is shown on the left, and the school on the right.)

Adjacent the Sister’s house is also the newly built La Consolacion School-Larantuka which was opened on 15 July 2014 with twenty-one pre-school pupils. As required by the Indonesian government, the sisters hired the services of two Indonesian teachers. The sisters administer the school, supervise the teachers and teach Christian living and the English language to those interested on tutorial basis.

As an outreach, the Sisters go to the Solor Island, to a poor Catholic community, one week-end a month to assist in the parish ministry. They are also involved in Integrative Healing Ministry to help sick people in the larger community. (In the photo above, on the left is seen the blessing ceremony of the pre-school, and on the right is the formal acceptance of three of the aspirants.)
