Asia Pacific Augistinian Conference


In this section, you will find basic information about APAC – its goals, history and hopes, and something about St Augustine, whose particular priorities within Christian life and ministry helps to characterise these APAC congregations.



Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation

The Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation (ASOLC) was founded in 1883. It had its beginnings in Spain but is now a Philippines-based congregation.  


Augustinian Contemplative Nuns, Bulacan.

The Monastery of the Mother of Good Counsel at Bulacan, Philippines is not yet autonomous, but  is still affiliated with the Italy.




Order of Augustinians Discalced

The date of 19 May 1592 is considered the time of birth of the Order of Discalced Augustinians (OAD). On this day, the hundredth General Chapter of Order of Saint Augustine (OSA) at the Convent of Saint Augustine in Rome formulated a Decree "Et quoniam satis” which prescribed the reform in all convents in the Order.


Order of Augustinian Recollects

The Order of Augustinian Recollects (O.A.R.) are a mendicant Catholic religious order of friars and nuns that began in sixteenth-century Spain as a reformist offshoot from the Order of St Augustine that had commenced in the year 1256, and both orders follow the same Rule of St Augustine.


Order of St. Augustine in general

The Order of St Augustine began by a process in which a papal decree on 9th April 1256 named Licet Ecclesiae Catholicae was a key foundational moment.



Order of St. Augustine - Australia

Irish members of the Order of St Augustine arrived in Australia from 1838 onwards, meaning that the year 2012 has marked the 175th in Australia.


Order of St Augustine – Korea

It was only in the mid-1980s that the Order came to take its place in the already well-established and active Korean Church. It has achieved Delegation status.


Order of Saint Augustine - India

Within the Order of St Augustine, the Delegation of India is part of the Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus in the Philippines (founded in the year 1575), which is based in Spain and serves in Europe, Asia, North America, South America and Africa.


Order of St Augustine - Indonesia

The Province of the Netherlands first sent Augustinians to Papua in 1953, and in recent himes has grown to earn the status of a Vicariate. 


Order of St Augustine – Japan

The year 2012 was significant for the Vicariate of Japan in that it saw the 60th anniversary of the Order’s return to the Land of the Rising Sun.


Order of St Augustine – Vicariate of the Orient

The Vicariate of the Orient is part of the Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus in the Philippines, which serves in Europe, Asia, America, and Africa.


Order of St Augustine – Cebu

This Province was inaugurated on 15th January 1984 at the Basilica del Santo Nino in Cebu. The first Provincial was Fr. Eusebio B. Berdon, OSA., now again in office.



Agustinas Misioneras (Augustinian Missionary Sisters)

The Congregation of the Augustinian Missionary Sisters (popularly known by their Spanish name, Agustinas Misioneras) began in 1890.


Augustinians of the Assumption

The Augustinians of the Assumption (Assumptionists) reached South Korea in 1992, and now serve in a number of Asia-Pacific nations. 


Oblates of the Assumption

The Oblates of the Assumption are a Roman Catholic multi-national religious congregation for women that was founded in 1865.


Orantes of the Assumption

The Orantes of the Assumption is a female Religious Congregation within the Catholic Church.


Augustinian Sisters of the Divine Mercy

Augustinian Sisters of Divine Mercy were founded at Delft, Netherlands in 1888, but are now an autonomous congregation based in Indonesia.
