The date of 19 May 1592 is considered the time of birth of the Order of Discalced Augustinians (OAD). On this day, the hundredth General Chapter of Order of Saint Augustine (OSA) at the Convent of Saint Augustine in Rome formulated a Decree "Et quoniam satis” which prescribed the reform in all convents in the Order.
The Order of Augustinian Recollects (O.A.R.) are a mendicant Catholic religious order of friars and nuns that began in sixteenth-century Spain as a reformist offshoot from the Order of St Augustine that had commenced in the year 1256, and both orders follow the same Rule of St Augustine.
Within the Order of St Augustine, the Delegation of India is part of the Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus in the Philippines (founded in the year 1575), which is based in Spain and serves in Europe, Asia, North America, South America and Africa.
